Chaplin Farrant have submitted a planning application on behalf of Pelco LLP for the development of a 24h straw pellet production plant on the Potter Logistics site near Ely.
The design provides for a total floor area of 4,258m² of plant, including offices, a control room and welfare facilities. The scale of the plant and silo will be broken down using elevational cladding and a parapetted roof.
Colour will be used to break up solid lines on the skyline and to provide a visually interesting development in an otherwise standard industrial area.
It is envisaged that (subject to planning) the plant will supply straw pellets by train to Norwich, to be used at the proposed Generation Park Community Energy Centre which will supply heat for the District Heating System.
